One of the major aims of the club is to increase female participation in UKC as currently the club has a higher male to female ratio. Joining UKC Cycling is a great way to keep fit whilst socialising with other women. There will be of course stops for cake and coffee during the winter months!
We will be:
Introducing Women's Only cycling rides on Sundays at 1:30pm, on the first weekend of every month (one ride every four weeks); meeting outside Kent Sport's Cycle Hub. We will be advertising the ride to other local clubs in the area as each of the clubs have a few women members but not enough for an individual women's group. If the rides increase in popularity we will increase the frequency of the rides and perhaps introduce two different levels of rides- Casual/Social and Training/Racing. These rides will be led by Anna Marie Hughes, please email her to register your interest - firstname.lastname@example.org
Organising and booking out the minibus to go to Women's Cycling Coach Huw Williams’s Women Only coaching sessions at the Cyclopark circuit (Gravesend).
Participating in 'This Kent Girl Can Week' by running more Women's Only rides and also holding a bike maintenance workshop.
Women are also encouraged to join the men on training rides on Sundays and Wednesdays. Don't worry there they aren't as fast as you may think, you will be able to easily keep up and the policy of these rides is to never leave riders behind anyway. Therefore riders will always wait for you if you do struggle.
Information about all upcoming rides and training sessions for women will be advertised on the Facebook Group Page .
